The 10TEN JHL MX250 21/18 moves into full-size dirt bike territory, combining a 22 hp YB250R engine with full-size 21/18 wheels, adjustable suspension and a larger chassis designed to give the rider more room and capability off road.
At the heart of the MX250 is the YB250R four-stroke engine, producing a claimed maximum of 22 hp and paired with a five-speed manual gearbox. Fuelling comes from a PWK32 carburettor, while both electric and kick start are fitted, giving you push-button convenience with a kick starter there as a backup.
The move to a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheel setup makes a significant difference over the smaller bikes in the 10TEN JHL range. Combined with a 1395mm wheelbase and 910mm seat height, the MX250 has the proportions of a full-size off-road bike, with the larger wheels helping it roll through ruts, bumps and rougher terrain more easily.
Suspension has been specified accordingly. The front uses substantial 51/54mm inverted forks, while the rear is handled by a single shock and aluminium alloy linkage system. Unlike the suspension on some of the smaller models, the MX250's suspension is adjustable, allowing the setup to be better suited to the rider and terrain.
The wheels use aluminium alloy rims with upgraded aluminium alloy hubs, fitted with 80/100-21 front and 110/100-18 rear Yuangxing tyres. Wheel locks are fitted as standard to help prevent the tyres moving on the rims when running lower pressures off road.
Power is transferred through a heavier-duty 520 Choho chain, with a 13-tooth steel front and 49-tooth steel rear sprocket. A steel swingarm, forged alloy steering stem and 28mm aluminium Fatbar give the MX250 a suitably substantial chassis and cockpit setup.
Stopping power comes from hydraulic disc brakes front and rear, while stainless steel footpegs provide a solid platform when riding standing up. An engine bottom protector is also fitted as standard to provide additional protection underneath the motor when riding over rough ground.
The MX250 carries a larger 9-litre fuel tank, giving it noticeably more capacity than the smaller bikes in the range. An hourmeter makes it easy to keep track of running time and service intervals, while a 7Ah gel battery supports the electric-start system.
Unlike the dedicated pit bikes, the MX250 is also equipped with an LED headlight and front number plate, adding some useful visibility when riding in lower-light conditions.
Finished with a black frame, stainless steel and aluminium exhaust, and 10TEN + JHLOFR graphics, the MX250 is the step into a bigger, more powerful 10TEN JHL platform for riders looking for full-size wheels, more suspension capability and considerably more performance than the smaller bikes in the range.
